BAICO is interested in developing specialty services that other publishing companies do not.
Baico Publishing has worked with Dyslexia Associations and interested groups who wish to improve the reading ability of those suffering from dyslexia, which reduce or limit the enjoyment of books that are currently printed in standard text on white paper.
While many books currently available are designed to encourage our youth to read. It seems natural to go to the next level and print books that help students who find the current printed books difficult to enjoy and hard to understand.
With advice from experts in the area of dyslexia such as, Heritage Academy Ottawa and the Dyslexia Association of Canada, we are happy to meet with interested groups and organizations and publish books that allow your students, clients and others who need books that few publishers will consider. These books could increase their knowledge and enjoyment and enhance and improve their life skills. Both schools and libraries can benefit from having books that improve the reading ability of students and clients with dyslexia. These books provide added value to readers in Canada and other countries and enhance life skills.
Colors used in these specialty books are light lavender, light blue, light green, and beige. The font used is Arial 14. It is estimated that about 20% of the population have some form of dyslexia. Starting school without having a disadvantage is very important in the earlier years of education. Schools and teachers often notice a student who doesn’t seem to have the same skill sets, acts out, or is withdrawn. There may be many reasons for this behavior including dyslexia. Baico is providing a book, which for a better description, is called a RAINBOW BOOK. These books can be used by educators to help determine if students have difficulties with normal printed books, and find them hard to read. A RAINBOW BOOK will have a full, interesting story, with the book divided up into the four preferred colors that Dyslexia experts have determined may help affected individuals to read.
At the web site www.georgelaidlaw.ca/ there are many young adult books that have been found of interest to children and will be the first of many books formatted as RAINBOW BOOKS to cater to this area. Those who wish to obtain a copy formatted to help dyslexic readers need only contact Baico by email and specify the color, volume, and title needed. Ordering a RAINBOW BOOK by schools may be a start where students having some form of dyslexia can begin the process of assessment, and begin a path that allows them a better chance to meet the demands of a literate environment.
